Oh, One More Thing...

The buyers of our lovely little Royal Oak pad had their inspection party yesterday. I got a fax today telling me several things I already knew, that I don't have GFI outlets in my kitchen, and that one of the light switches doesn't work. And one thing I didn't know, that our shower has signs of rotting wood and, according to the inspector, needs to be rebuilt. So, for the honor of selling them our house, they have requested $4,000 from us to fix this stuff. And when I say "they", I am not referring to the young star-crosser lovers buying our house. I am referring to their witchy, evil realtor, who has goaded them into unrealistic offers and given them bad advice from the start. She's been played like a Steinway and she knows it. And this is her only way to "save face". Well, sorry, it's not going to work.

Our realtor is, at this very moment, telling her to go fuck off. Politely, of course.

He's a good guy, our realtor. He knows this business very, very well. And he has already started implementing his plan to handle this speed bump. He's going to bring in a contractor to see what the shower repair would really cost. And as for the electrical stuff: a house does not have to be "to code" to sell. Period. It's an old house. If they want GFI outlets and other niceties that were invented decades after this house was built, they can install them. And they can have fun doing that.

I'll be in the basement making a voodoo doll of the buyer's realtor if you need me...

There are always glitches after the inspection. The inspectors job is to find something wrong with your house. Let the realtors fight it out. That's what they get paid to do.
