Zach loves to climb trees, yet another thing he must have imbibed from me. We used to climb trees like monkeys when we were kids. We'd build forts in them, and sit up there for hours. Fruit trees like apple were my favorite because they have many branches.
I remember one time we were climbing a big old apple tree in a neighbor's back yard, and a kid from down the block named Steve decided to push his luck and climb as high as he could. Up he went, past the point that I felt safe. He was lighter than me though, so the branches held him...up to a point.
He was way up where the branches turn to twigs when we all heard the fateful CRACK!
Down came Steve, hitting every branch on the way down, rocketing through the tree like a drunk lemur after a careless mis-step. I could see him occasionally trying to grab branches in vein as he fell for what seemed like an eternity.
He fell the last ten feet or so clear of branches and landed with a dull THUD.
We all thought he was dead.
But after a minute or two spent catching his breath, Steve stood up and said "Wow that was FUN!"

We had an apple tree in our front yard that was THE BEST climbing tree. It had these two branches that were set up just like a pair of uneven bars. We did all kinds of gymnastics from those branches.
