A Day Of Celebration

Yesterday we had, not one, but TWO birthday parties for Madison. The first was for her friends and the second was for family. They overlapped a little, as some of the daycare parents stayed for much longer than we thought they would.

We rented a Bounce House which arrived at about 8:30AM and left at 9:00PM. Don't bother counting, that's 12.5 hours of bouncy goodness. And man did the kids get our money's worth. Zach was in that thing most of the day, and Maddie and Brooke and Jack were not far behind. The parents even gave it a few whirls (thank goodness for Ibuprofen) and it's just as fun as I remembered.

We had lots of activities...maybe too many, because the lawn-toss game I made was never used. But the kids had lots of fun. Besides the main attraction, we had the kids paint picture frames and I took a photo of each kid with Maddie and printed them during the party so they could take them home.

The menu was simple: Hot dogs and chips! I could have spent all day making shish-tawook or something but the kids just want hot dogs. Heather made her famous Dulce de Leche Cheesecake which is pretty much the best dessert I've ever tasted, and good thing she did - as I mentioned my fondant cake tasted like soggy cardboard.

Rounding things out there were pinwheels and gift bags for the kids, and beer for the parents :)

I think Maddie was a little overwhelmed by all the attention and presents she got. But I think she had a great day.
