Influx

"This is a country that was built by immigrants, this is a country that became a superpower because of its immigrant population, and unless we continue to have immigrants, we cannot maintain as a superpower"  - NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg

He goes on to suggest that Detroit can fix it's population woes by inviting immigrants to move here and settle in large numbers. He says that's what made New York City great in the past and still does today.

I actually think this is a very promising idea, one of the best I've heard. We could repopulate Detroit rapidly if we let people in for whom Detroit would be a huge step up. Give them some free land. There are tons of jobs that most current Americans consider beneath them, or too low-paying to bother with, that these people would jump at. Immigrants are very hard working people as a rule.

And we'd all get the advantages of a thriving city again. Oh, and some seriously good ethnic food, as Detroit used to have back in the day.

Detroit has a fantastic mayor, Dave Bing...but he needs people to have a city.
