"Say What?"

It was a very subtle exchange this morning between Maddie and me. Think about it. She's telling me not to say something I hadn't said yet. I guess I fell for her trap?

Dad (looks at Maddie, smiling)

Maddie "No, we don't say that!"

Dad (surprised) "We don't say WHAT?"

Maddie "We don't say 'We don't say WHAT!'"

It makes my head hurt.
