In real life, "things we know" are often wrong. Tulips are not really from Holland. They originated in Iran, Turkey, and Afghanistan. They were introduced to Europe in the 16th century. So why do we think they are Dutch. I guess because the Dutch really liked them and showed them off and developed all the cool colors. It's all about marketing really.
Tomatoes are not from Italy? Chilies are not from Asia? Ice cream and pasta came from China? It's a crazy mixed up world out there, isn't it? Next we'll discover mummified Twinkies in the pyramids.
