A Matter Of Taste

"Help me, tell me I'm sane. I feel a change in the earth, in the wind and the rain."

- Black Sabbath, "Falling off the Edge of the World"

Do you ever have days where nothing tastes right? Something is "off" in the calibration of your sense of smell or taste and everything tastes "shifted" and strange? Today is such a day. I fear that even an Orange Julius would not taste good today (I know, I know). I am drinking a coffee right now and it doesn't even taste like coffee. It tastes like water with a metallic edge, backed up by a nasty "blood" aftertaste. It could be a bad cup of coffee, I suppose, but my breakfast didn't taste right either.

I'm not sure why this happens. We are extraordinarily complicated biological machines though, so it doesn't surprise me that chemicals can get out of balance and cause strange things to happen occasionally. I hope the system recovers soon though, because I don't like the taste of blood.
