The Tigers are kicking some serious ass right now!
They're leading the AL Central division by 13.5 games (I still can't get used to that central part, when I was a kid there was no central division and we were in the AL East).
And they just got their 12th straight win. They hadn't won 10 straight since 1984 (they won the World Series that year), 11 straight since 1968 (they won it that year too), and now they're gunning for the team record which is 14 in 1934 (they were in the series that year too but lost). So put another way, the Tigers haven't won this many games in a row in 77 years, and when they win streaks like this they tend to do well post-season.*
Magic number to secure a spot in the post-season is down to TWO games.
* I kinda put that in there hoping someone would call me out. Remember sports statistics are ALL basically complete horseshit, you cannot extrapolate past performance data into a small number of games in the future. It's all crap...just something for the announcers to fill dead air with. My whole point is, the Tigers seem to be doing well this year :)
