"This nearly iconic portrait (in the form of a lithograph) of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln is a composite of Lincoln’s head and the Southern politician John Calhoun’s body."
Although Photoshop was first introduced on the Mac in 1990, and airbrushing became well known during the early Playboy years, it turns out photo manipulation is as old as photography.
In the early days many photos were changed to either 1) make politicians look better, 2) "change history" after the fact, or 3) remove people who had fallen out of favor with a particular dictator after the photo was taken, or 4) add people in who were not present and should have been.
My favorite is Stalin's famous horse photo - they airbrushed out the handler, who pretty much represented training wheels and made him look too wimpy.
As they say, and I believe this completely, image is everything.

Wow. To me, it's almost has a eerie feel to it, haunting and cool. ( historically that is)
Kind of like my pics of the group in the Grand Canyon. First adding in Heather who took the photo, then adding the missing brothers. Oh, and remember the one in the Narrows that I added you onto?
