Take Me Out

Heather got great suite tickets (#110) for the Tiger's game on Sunday. It was a really nice day and a fun time as you can see from the pics.

I bought two big bags of roasted peanuts (my favorite ballpark treat) for the kids and they munched away and watched (most of) a pretty good game with the Red Sox.

I was teaching Zach some of the finer points of the game and the sport and he seemed interested. At one point I motioned to the numbers on the far wall and told him those were the jersey numbers of the greatest Tigers of the past, and the numbers were "retired" never to be used again by the club. I told him (in my opinion) the two greatest Tigers were Ty Cobb (who had no number) and Al Kaline, who I said is still alive.

Wouldn't you know, a couple of minutes later Al Kaline emerged from a neighboring suite. Quite a coincidence! He was with his family and seemed to be telling a grandkid about baseball. The kid seemed bored. Perhaps he's not as good at telling stores as me :) or more likely, Zach knows how to fake interest better? :) Regardless, there sat one of the greatest players in - not just Tiger history - baseball history.

It was a great fun time.
