Parading Into Summer

The Memorial Parade was interesting, as always. We went to Royal Oak for this one. Some of our favorite moments:

The old-time baseball players club of Royal Oak was there. If you haven't seen the old timers league play at Greenfield Village, you should go. They play by 1880's rules and it's a blast to watch.

This car full of 90+ year-old women made just about everyone giggle. All you could see was the tops of their heads. Someone should have given them boosters! Another old Model A had what looked like the creepy arm of a Lich waving at everyone. It was chillingly morbid. Daughters of the American Revolution...I think these ladies really were!

Why are snow plows in the Memorial Day parade. In fact, many of the groups there (churches, daycares...baseball players for that matter) didn't seem to fit the theme of Memorial Day. Or perhaps I don't understand the pattern.

There were two marching bands: Royal Oak High School and Southfield Lathrup High School. Sorry Royal Oak, Lathrup kicked your asses! That band was awesome, the best I've ever seen in a parade. The music was incredible, and loud, and the dancers were perfect. Good job SFL.
