I don't know if I should laugh or cry that Kubrick was so prescient:
Daniel Ellsberg worked at the DoD during the cold war, and one of his first jobs was studying the command and control of nuclear weapons. He was the man who drafted the US operational plan for nuclear war in 1961.
Bloomsbury Publisher and Editorial Director Peter Ginna told The Observer in an email:
"As he said to me on the phone, when he saw Dr. Strangelove with a colleague, they agreed 'It's a documentary.'"
