I was going to write up a tribute to my mother today as I usually do on the day she died, and this is the tenth anniversary of her death - but nothing I could have written would be as perfect as what my sister has posted today on her blog so I am just going to unceremoniously copy her version and put it in here and to my mom I'll just add: "yeah mom, what she said!"
Heart to Heart
Mary Kathleen Heffron Wild was my mother. The last beat of her heart was ten years ago today, Valentines Day. She lived with a heart defect, mitral stenosis from the time she had rheumatic fever as a child. She later had two mitral valve replacements, first a porcine valve then a mechanical one. In her last years she suffered from progressive congestive heart failure.
So with a lifetime of heart issues we somehow found it fitting that she lost her battle on the day that celebrates hearts and love. She may have had a defective heart but it was full of love. We still miss you, mom.

Intermittent Contact

Sorry, peeps, we've been having more fun than any mortal deserves this week, romping at our family reunion. Unlike past events, this time we have no WiFi in our residence. We've been pirating connections from the neighbors who haven't yet discovered the existence of WEP or WPA2, but they are tentative and fleeting.
So here's a quick post brought to you by the Wettlaufer Condo to tell you that we're still alive, having fun, boating, floating, swimming, eating, taking pictures, and drinking wine like priests on holiday in Rome.
The World of Wild will be back in business soon, I promise...

Riding High

I survived the layoffs! Our division's reduction is now complete and we were given the "all-clear".
I feel like a rhino has been lifted off my back. Ok, HB, a hippo then. :)
Interestingly enough, I just finished signing the offer papers for our new house.
Lots happening. Tighten your saddle and hang on...
