Missing In Action

It would seem I've been a bit too "relaxed" in my Wii-Fit exercise regime lately.

Lava Cake

I don't think I ever showed you the custom Transformers birthday cake I made for Zach. So, in the interest of correcting that miscalculation, here it is!

Belatedness

In our haste to push through the huge pile of life's details lately, we have blown right by both of the dogs birthdays!

Coco was two long, evil and wicked years on April 28th, while Jake was five cute fuzzy well-behaved years on May 17th.

We plan on making up for this heinous oversight this weekend. We usually dress the dogs in birthday hats, get them a big smelly pile of meat and sing happy birthday to them, any of which would land us in the nuthouse in a perfect world.

Happy New Beer's Day!

Seventy-five years ago today, beer (limited to 3.2%), became legal. Wine, spirits, and "real" beer were some months away, but it was the beginning of the end of prohibition.

Of course, remnants of the temperance movement are still with us, in the 3.2 beer states out west, Sunday alcohol restrictions, state-owned liquor stores, and dry counties sprinkled throughout the south. But the amendment that gave us the "Speak Easy" and made criminals out of millions of Americans while making real criminals very rich was repealed effective 75 years ago today.

Salud!

Retractable Retraction

Ok, so...what THE hell? I can't win with this one. Of course, I'm doing better than poor Wally.

He died yesterday.

In between when I said he died and my retraction and well wishes. So now I sadly have to retract my retraction and inform you that he really did die, and he's no longer just very very sick.

Retraction Bingo

Ok, so now my brother says Wally Bronner didn't actually die, he's just "really really sick". But I said that he died in my blog, and "really really sick" doesn't count. So I stand corrected.

I need to check my facts better. In my defense though, it was a concerted search for his obit (that was not found) that clued me in to the fact that he might still be walking the planet. Sorry Wally. May you outlive us all.
