Our Real Tree

You could call it a fake tree, but I assure you that the plastic and metal in this tree is just as real as the wood and needles are in an organic tree :) And we still love it!

Our Tree

We've decided to plant a tree in our new yard, sometime next spring. Something we can watch grow and comment about how we planted it when it was only "this" tall.

I was thinking perhaps an "Autumn Radiance" or "Firedance" Maple (when did people start trade marking plant hybrids? It was probably that darned Rudolph Boysen and his accursed berry).

What do you think, any suggestions? What's your favorite tree? Of course, it has to be something that can survive here, don't tell me to plant an olive tree...I'd love to, but I really don't want to move my tree indoors every winter.

Kicking Off & Climbing On

We had our first official picnic of the year on Saturday. We packed up the sandwiches and kids and drink bottles and hopped on our bikes and rode to Starr Jaycee park for fun times in the rain. Nan and her hubby and children met us there and we got the season fired up with relish.

We're going to do a picnic every other Saturday from now until we freeze our protruding body parts off in the fall. We'll pick a different park each week and play Frisbee, climb on things, and generally enjoy the hell out of ourselves.

And you're all invited. Well, not the whole web, but any readers I might have floating around out there.
