Armageddon

It has a small chance of happening anytime soon, but it’s worth preparing for:

Scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory are using a 32,000 processor supercomputer to predict what would happen if we struck a large meter with an atomic weapon. This is in case we ever find one heading our way and need to do something to avoid a planet-wide extinction event. Above is the Itokawa asteroid, which is a half kilometer wide, meeting a 1 Megaton warhead in simulation.

This picture looks like a strange fungus growing on a half a peach.
