The FBI took down the file sharing site megaupload.com, as if to punish the people of the internet for the huge protests against SOPA/PIPA.
In response, the hacker organization known as “Anonymous” launched massive Denial of Service (DOS) attacks on the Dept of Justice and the Universal Music Group, as well as numerous congressional sites, bringing them all down.
You can’t beat hackers, so it’s best not to piss them off.
