The flooding in the Mississippi Delta right now rivals that of the infamous 1927 floods, which gave us, along with tragedy and misery untold, some really great blues songs. The Yazoo river is usually a tributary of the Mississippi, but at times like these that relationship reverses. As per usual, it's the poor who have the land most likely to flood. Always been like that, always will. It's that exact area, the backwoods shores of the Yazoo river, that gave birth to the Delta Blues many, many years ago.
A Stella guitar, hardship and more hardship. Those are the three ingredients for the creation of blues. All three can still be found in the Delta. It's the only abundance they have.
