Moore's Law

That iPad 2 in your hand is so powerful it would have “stayed on the list of the world’s fastest supercomputers through 1994” according to a guy who would know, Dr. Jack Dongarra, one of the keepers of the Linpack Computing Benchmark.

The Cray 2, a previous speed champion that was about the same speed as the iPad 2, was the size of a washing machine and had a very complicated liquid cooling system. Oh, and it cost $17 Million.

More amazingly, Dongarra only Linpack tested one of the iPad 2's two processor cores. So it's really faster still.

That's amazing when you think about it.
