It's been a while, but AstroDave is back!. It was probably 25 years or more ago when I last pressed the commit button on a mini-launch. I used to love model rocketry, back in the day. My father got me into it and Bri and I did dozens of launches and had probably 20 rockets.
My favorite was the Cherokee, a D-engine rocket that was the perfect size (not so light that the power would make it unstable, but not too heavy to fly high) and man could that thing soar. I chased it for a couple miles once on my bike.
So this past weekend we finally got out and introduced Zach and Jack to the coolness of solid propellant and plastic parachutes. We did four launches, two with Z's rocket and two with Jack's. As you can see, we had a small crowd by the end of it...more people to chase down the rocket never hurts.
Yeah, we plan on doing this again!
I wonder if they still make the Cherokee...
