Branding

Brand image is everything in business.

Apple just shot to the top of the list of the world's most valuable brands. The Apple brand is now worth $153 Billion. That's more than any other brand anywhere, and there are some big names on the list. Here are the top ten:

1. Apple - $153 Billion up 84%
2. Google - 111 Billion down 2%
3. IBM - $101 Billion up 17%
4. McDonalds - $81 Billion up 23%
5. Microsoft - $78 Billion up 2%
6. Coca-Cola - $74 Billion up 8%
7. AT&T - $70 Billion even
8. Marlboro - $67 Billion up 18%
9. China Mobile - $57 Billion up 9%
10. GE - $50 Billion up 12%

The list is an interesting mix of junk food and tech, isn't it? China's finally got one on the list, I'm sure it won't be the last. And what's up with the cigarettes? My guess is they're going gangbusters marketing to children in third-world countries where they don't have laws about such things.

Funny, I was surprised to see Marlboro there, too. On the way out, hopefully.
