12 Step Program

Well, seems I'm not the only one who loved The King's Speech...it just got 12 Oscar nominations, the most of any film this year. All the good ones too, Best Picture, director, actor, supporting actor, etc.

Now, the Academy Awards are not the final word in what's good of course (remember the 1998 Oscars where Shakespeare in Love beat Saving Private Ryan for Best Picture?...or, for you older folks, remember How Green Was My Valley beating Citizen Kane in 1941?...case closed) but they got this one right I think.

Actually, I have agreed with the majority of the academy's winners lately...The Hurt Locker, Million Dollar Baby, Lord of the Rings, Crash, No Country for Old Men, great movies all. And now that there are 10 nominees for best picture and some good films out in 2010, it should be quite a competition.

I usually try to see all the Best Picture nominees before the awards show, but that has become much harder to do since kids :)

The three pictures I think have the best chance to win (and I'm guessing as I haven't seen most) are in bold below...let's wait and see how I do.

Best Picture Nominations - 2011

Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King's Speech, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit, Winter's Bone

We're going to see The King's Speech Friday night. I'm sure I won't be disappointed...
