A Terrible Beauty

It's amazing that there are places like the Crystal Caves. It's even more amazing that we have found them and started to explore them. A thousand feet below ground, this is a giant cave system in Mexico full of huge gypsum crystals. These caves are normally filled with superheated water but the water has been pumped out for the mining of silver, zinc, and lead. They are so hot (118 deg F) and humid (90%) inside that these explorers need to wear cooled suits or they'd be quickly overcome by exhaustion.

Awesome. Wanna go?
