Another Sleep Study, Not Much Sleep

I had a yearly-follow-up sleep study to see if I can get rid of my CPAP, being that I lost a whole lotta weight and don't seem to need it anymore.

Not that they could tell, as my sleep study contained very little actual sleep. It seemed that every single lead and cuff, electrode and fitting they put on me failed at one or more points during the night. And every instance of said failure brought the (far too) cheery night tech prancing into my room on a wave of bright light to adjust, replace, repair, and fix. Oh, he knocked first, just loud enough to scare the socks off me. And he had this crazy accent that was somewhere in between Borat and an Egyptian spice merchant. What a surreal trip that was.

Combined with that nose thingy, which if possible was even more uncomfortable than the mask I use at home, I hardly slept at all. And the sleep I did get was filled with crazy fits of vivid dreams and night terrors, laced with a terrible jumpy anticipation that the door was going to burst open at any second. The plan was to put a mask on me during the second half of the night if I seemed to need it. I guess I didn't need it because it never happened, although the anticipation of the burst of activity that would come with the mask made me very edgy.

If they got any valid data from that debacle, I'll be amazed.
