Merge Ahead

Creating these HDR files really "melts" the CPU in a computer. It's a huge amount of calculation and blending of the most intensive kind, many people complain about the time it takes to merge a half dozen photos together in this way.

Well, not me, because I have The Beast!

Check this out. Photomatix, the program I use for merging HDRs, supports parallelization of all 8 cores in the Mac Pro!! The Beast absolutely shreds data when it's firing on all 8 cores.

So for me & The Beast, these merges take only seconds. Which of course means I'll just make more of them to fill in the time :)
