Wonderland

The last Packard rolled down the line at this mighty plant in 1956 when that company collapsed. This place is huge, sprawling for more than half a mile down Concord Street across East Grand Boulevard.

One explorer calls it "3.5 million square feet of wonderland".

We visited this giant ghost last week but just dipped our toes in the water and we can't wait to go back. Everything about this place is either awesome, weird, or creepy in the extreme. There are rooms filled with old boats. A giant brick pyramid on one floor, built by someone for some unknown reason. Huge holes puncture the roof in places, larger than houses.

This is a place that is in the middle of being reclaimed by the wild, one crumbing wall at a time. The Detroit Fire Department has standing orders not to enter this plant because it is too structurally unsound.

Sounds like fun to me!
