Musica

I'm not normally a fan of country music but I really dig the song "White Liar" by Miranda Lambert. She sings in an old country style like the Carters, and the back beat is rock & roll and it just works. And she's a real songwriter, not just a pretty face who was set up by some record company. I like the real deal.

I don't post enough about music here. It's really a huge part of my life and I have such a wide interest in music. Different types for different moods. I like loud and heavy for driving. Old blues is my ultimate favorite and the best music for editing photographs, unless I am editing for a certain look, then I try to listen to music from that general era - like Hip-Hop for the dance pics and 1920's jazz when I do the old "silver nitrate" look.

Here are some of the songs currently on my iPod and spinning in my head:

Viva La Vida - Coldplay
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
Say Hey - Michael Franti
This Is Halloween - Marilyn Manson
Sally's Song - Amy Lee (of Evanescence, one of my fave bands)
Right Round - Flo-Rida
Ridin' - Chamillionaire
Come Home and It'll All Come Around - Back Door Slam

If you haven't heard Back Door Slam and you are a blues/rock fan, check them out. Some 22 year-old punk from the Isle of Man named Davy Knowles who is an awesome blues guitar player who happens to sound like he came from Memphis. I think this guy is one of the most talented musicians around today. Check out the album called Roll Away. Awesome stuff.

One thing I love about my family is that they all love music. Hardly a day goes by that I don't catch Heather dancing in the living room and singing at the top of her lungs. She does an awesome Janice Joplin, by the way. And Maddie loves to dance and be silly and even Brooke gets her little baby-groove swagger on when the music is playing. And Zach is really into music of all kinds and he happily seems to have wide-ranging tastes. He listens intelligently and also knows how to have a good time with it. And continues to progress rapidly on the sax...my dream is for a sort of John Coltrane without the spiraling coke habit :)
