This Dandy Sandy Ramp Is Handy

If you've never been in the mountains, you might not even know that run-away truck ramps exist. But for those unfortunate drivers who need one, it's pretty much the greatest invention ever - better than TV remotes and microwave popcorn combined.

With terrifying regularity, the steep grades of the mountains combine with the massive loads carried by semi-trucks to generate enough friction to burn up a set of brake pads real quick. And the result is one big runaway truck headed down the 7% grade towards Denver like an 18-wheeled missile.

So someone came up with these dandy things. A long uphill slope lined with sand. If you're cruising down rapidly with no brakes towards an untimely and gruesome end, you'd better hope you see one of these ahead. Just pull off to the right like your making an exit, and in no time you're stopped. Remember to use your turn signal.

Once fully stopped, please remember to change your underwear before the tow truck arrives. It's just common courtesy.
