Do you have a favorite animal?
See this crazy thing? This is my favorite mammal (besides you, my readers, of course). It's called the African Wild Dog. It's also called, by various people, African Hunting Dog, Cape Hunting Dog, Spotted Dog, Painted Wolf, Wildehond, and Mbwa Mwitu.
Anything with that many names has to kick some serious ass, don't you think?
I'm not sure if it's their amazing coloration, their seriously scrappy attitude, the fact that they have the highest bite force quotient of any carnivorous mammal, or the crazy Brillo-pad beard, but I am just entranced by them.
I think they are beautiful.
I sometimes think it would be funny to get a few of these as pets. Can you imagine walking them down the street? They'd own anything on the block. Pit Bulls? Rottweilers? Dobermans? This thing would send them packing...or eat them alive.
