Today is the 30th anniversary of Spam. Not the stuff my dad ate in WWII, but the email kind. Seems an equipment engineer sent a mail message over ARPANET to his colleagues advertising a new line of computers. The recipients were not pleased and told him to "cut that shit out" right away.
Well, a few million other people have since taken up his torch, and up to 95% of all email on the internet is spam now. It costs IT departments over $200 billion to combat. Thanks for the kickstart idea, jerk-off.
