The Beige Paste Of Delight

I am not sure we could survive a week without hummus. I don't know exactly who first came up with the idea of mashing chick peas with lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, and garlic, but he or she should be canonized. Or at least granted superhero status.

I work in Dearborn, which has a very large middle-eastern population, and you can get some incredible hummus there, probably the best in the world outside the middle east and mediterranean. New Yasmeen Bakery. Shatila. Al Ameer. Incredible stuff. They throw away more good hummus in Deaborn than the rest of the country makes.

But I also make it, and over the years I have gotten my version pretty close to the best of them.

So get out on your deck tonight and enjoy some of this glorius mezze with friends. It will be nice, I promise.

Oh gosh, I love hummus more than, well, lots of stuff. One thing I miss about Detroit is the wonderful middle eastern food.

Hummus IS the beige paste of delight.
